Niko’s Garden is Australia’s home of rare mountain herbs, teas, heirloom vegetables and greens. My growing collection of wild Greek plants are authentic heirloom varieties which are sourced from nature. Majority of stock is originally sourced from outside my Pappou’s village in Crete and mountainous regions throughout Greece and the Mediterranean. My mission is to preserve and share these rare plants with fellow garden lovers here in Australia. My Best Sellers
A popular Greek variety that comes back every year. It has smaller rounded leaves and grows beautiful spiral blooms with white and purple flowers. Makes a beautiful ornament, attracts bees and is full of antioxidants and beneficial oils, makes an invigorating herbal tea. Can be grown in pots and the ground.
The original and most pure oregano that comes straight from the mountains in Greece. It has an Intense aroma with a traditional spicy flavour. Flowers and leaves are most commonly used dried in cooking as well as herbal tea. Grows big and bushy with bright white blooms.
Also known as ‘Tsai tou vounou’ in Greek. It is a popular herb that grows on the mountains throughout the Mediterranean. It has beautiful spears of yellow flowers which have the sweetest perfume. Cultivated for its medicinal properties and floral flavour, Grows well in a sunny free draining position.
A very popular Greek variety of lettuce with sweet chicory flavour. Characterised by its soft butter leaves that have a slight crisp. Leaves grow serrated as it matures and can be grown all year round in small spaces or larger gardens. Slow bolting and annual variety that can be planted in full sun to part shade and enjoys moist well composted soil.
A Unique variety of mint know as ‘Thiosmos’ in Greek and is prized in traditional cooking for its delicate and refreshing flavour. It has long skinny leaves and like most mints will spread and take over with its running growth.
A prized wild chicory that grows throughout the rigid mountainsides in Crete. Characterised by dark green, serrated leaves with a strong bitter flavour that is cherished for cooking and salads. The plant contains a number of essential vitamins and is recognised as a Greek superfood. Grow in either part or full sun with free draining and alkaline soil.
